Raymond Lee Gibson, known affectionately as Ray, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on October 12, 1944, in Smith Town, Kentucky, and resided most recently in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Ray had a zest for life and enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He loved exploring garage sales, watching Nascar races, and using his creativity to make things out of nothing. Ray had a passion for collecting trains, camping, and taking care of his garden. He found great joy in creating unique items, such as airplanes made from pop cans, wind chimes crafted from silverware, and birdhouses from gourds. But above all, Ray cherished spending time with his family. Nothing made him happier than sitting outside and enjoying the company of his loved ones. Home was his favorite place in the world. In his free time, he loved indulging in Brenda's delicious cooking. Brenda, his beloved wife of 24 years, was his rock and constant companion. Together, they created beautiful memories. Ray is survived by his wife, Brenda Gibson; his sons, Richard Gibson and Russell (Stephanie) Gibson; step-daughter, Heather (Curt) Confer; and step-son, Tyler Hillman. He was a proud and doting grandfather to Josh Gibson, Jack Gibson, Cody Confer, Carlee (Tim) Carpenter, and Caitlyn (Micah) Maron. Ray is also survived by his sister, Josephine Duncan; and brothers, Larry, Jerry, and Danny Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Stella Godsey Gibson; and his brother, Johnny Gibson. Ray was a former member of Life Community Church in Bluffton, Indiana, where he made many cherished connections. His kind and jovial nature will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Raymond Lee Gibson will be forever remembered for his creative spirit, love for his family, and his dedication to the simple pleasures of life. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
