Alexander Funeral Home-Newburgh Chapel
Judith (Judy) Elaine Shekell, 64, of Newburgh, IN passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Heart 2 Heart Hospice Care in Evansville, IN. She was surrounded by her family and passed very peacefully. She was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky on August 5, 1959. She was a graduate of Henderson Co. High School in 1977.
Judy was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. She was the “punniest” woman around. She loved a good pun and would crack herself up daily. She absolutely loved watching sci-fi and paranormal shows, don’t interrupt her Skinwalker Ranch. She worked at Preview Video in Henderson KY for years, then at University of Evansville. Her most cherished job however, was as a homemaker. She loved her family dearly and loved taking care of everyone. She always put everyone before herself. To know her was to truly love her. And she made the BEST deviled eggs hands down. We scheduled this funeral for the afternoon…because she wasn’t a “mourning” person. Budumtssss
She was preceded in death by her mother, Zillie Elizabeth Gafford (Pullum); father, Robert E. Lee Gafford; biological father, Elward Sights and stepmother, Ruth Sights; brothers, Dennis Sights and Larry Sights, and many other family members she loved and missed.
Judy is survived by her husband, Ron Shekell of Newburgh IN; daughter, Elisa Scott and husband ,Keith of McKinney TX; son, Chad Keister of Henderson KY; grandchildren, Brittany Keister of Independence KY, Taylor Balcom of McKinney TX, Tabitha Scott of Atlanta GA, Coltin Keister of Evansville IN and Chase Keister of Evansville IN; great-grandchildren Karlee, Adalynn, Isabel and Zillie; sister; Teresia Makar (Dan Makar DOD 10/12/2017) of Mentor OH; brothers; Eddie Sights (Jackie Sights DOD 8/26/14) of Henderson KY; Ricky Gafford and wife Nancy of Henderson KY; Tinker Sights and wife Connie of Bumpus Mills TN; mother in law; Jane Cerullo of Newburgh IN; father in law Ron Shekell and wife Barb of Hatfield IN; sister in laws; Stephanie Brown of Newburgh IN; Amanda Burkins and husband Roy of Newburgh IN, and MANY nieces and nephews who she loved as well.
