Naomi Gertrude Turner Cooke

Naomi Gertrude (Turner) Cooke, 89, formerly of New Albany, died Sunday, December 4, 2011. She was born December 19, 1921 in Elizabeth, Indiana to the late Joseph A. and Blanche C. (Stewart) Turner. Naomi worked at the powder plant during the war and retired from Green Valley Care Center in New Albany as a nurse’s aide. She was active at the Salvation Army and was a member at the Dearborn County and Ridgewood Adult Clubs. For years, Naomi helped with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and she loved playing bingo and traveling to Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Cooke; granddaughter, Kim Cooke; and siblings, Warren, Irvin and Glenn Turner, Maxine Hampton and Joyce Hartman.
Survivors include her children, Billy Cooke (Carolyn) of New Albany, IN, Kenny Cooke of New Albany, IN, Gloria Smith of New Albany, IN, Diana Adams (Ralph) of New Albany, IN, Tony Cooke (Cecilia) of Georgetown, IN, Angela Schmidt (Tony) of Aurora, IN, Jeffery Cooke of New Albany, IN, Tim Cooke of New Albany, IN; brother, Gail Turner of Corydon, IN; 21 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Thursday and after 10:00 am Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Friday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
