Nécrologie de Michael Wayne Schmidt
Michael Wayne Schmidt, age 64 passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was born on June 23, 1960 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Herbert Joseph and Mary Lois Schmidt. He was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church where he opened his home for a men's Holy Eucharist study. He was also a member of Northside Christian Church where he was a leader and devoted friend of those in his Life Group for 16 years. Mike was active in engagement mentoring through Northside. He and Toni remained active in supporting the married lives of those they mentored. Mike was an integral part of his AA groups, sponsoring many individuals over his 22 years of sobriety. He enjoyed coaching his son through St. Anthony's youth football programs. He was a graduate of Providence High School. After high school, he received a Associates Degree in electronics and received a Bachelors of Computer Science from Indiana University. Mike was the CEO of Sartini Dentistry for ten years before becoming owner/operator of ProTile. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, golfing, pickleball, horse racing and was a painful fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Mike enjoyed the many family gatherings. His favorite vacation spot was the mountains and loved to eat his grandma's fried chicken and dumplings. His mornings always started with coffee and prayers, with his wife in the beautiful prayer garden they created. Favorite days were sharing a great meal, snuggling on the couch with his wife and children and watching football or a movie. He shared a special bond with his son, Manny, over their love of music, with his daughter, Peyton, watching the Red's play and hearing Maria serenade him on the piano. If there is a dance floor, you would be sure to find him there with the love of his life, Toni. Mike had a tattoo he tried to live his life by: Micah 6:8 "To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." We believe he succeeded. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Schmidt. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Toni Sartini Schmidt; two daughters, Peyton Schmidt and Maria Schmidt; a son, Manny Schmidt; a brother, David Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Joe Sartini, Nick Sartini, Gino (Christine) Sartini and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation for Mike will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 12:00 PM at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 316 N Sherwood Ave, Clarksville, Indiana 47129. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Serenity House, 200 Homestead Ave Clarksville, Indiana 47129.
