Lowell Gene Thomas, age 79, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was born on March 14, 1944 in Liberty, Kentucky (Casey County). Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Venus Thomas; a sister, Leona Spaw; two brothers, Harold and Kenneth; and a brother-in-law, Paul Ledford. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marabeth Ledford Thomas; a son, Chris Thomas (Carmen); and a daughter, Angela Thomas. Lowell was blessed with five GRANDchildren, Kyle Thomas, Augusta Schonard, Luke Thomas, Max Thomas and Jacob Schonard, and a special mention of Josh, Jeremy and Noah Gettelfinger. He is also survived by a brother, Charles (Ruby) and sister-in-laws, Margy (Ledford) Smith and Frances Gettelfinger (Rex). He was an uncle to Pam Spaw, Andy Spaw, Greg Thomas, Theresa Butner, Mitch Thomas, Tammy Motley, Stephanie Thomas, Burlin Thomas, Alan Gettelfinger, Diana Gettelfinger, Leanne Sievers, Tony Ledford, Madonna Ledford and Terry Webb. Lowell proudly served in the Army from 1965 to his honorable discharge in 1967. He began working for LG&E in construction and retired after 35 years of service. Lowell was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville and was an active member of St. Anthony Men's Club. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 am by Friar John Bamman, OFM Conv. on Monday, October 30, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 316 N. Sherwood Drive, Clarksville, Indiana 47129 with burial to follow in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony Men's Club.
