Muncie- Jerry L. Burden Sr., passed away October 5, 2016 at his residence. Jerry was born October 22, 1940 to Lelia (Drumm) and G. Chester Burden. Jerry retired from Broadway Trucking. He'd previously worked at Ball Brothers and for many other trucking companies over the years as a truck driver. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local Union #135. Jerry and his wife Nancy are the owners/operators of Madison Square Gardens. Jerry was an avid fisherman; he could often be seen out fishing along the banks of the White River. He was a true outdoorsman, loved hunting for mushrooms, setting a turtle line or two, and rabbit hunting with his Beagle dogs. He loved Nascar, playing cards, listening to or telling a good joke or a story, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. Jerry was a free spirit. He lived his life on his own terms. He was a Bearcat at heart, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He dearly loved his dog of Thirteen years Chip, and his cat Miss Kitty. Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Nancy (Rainey) Burden; three sons, Gary, Jeff, Kevin (wife-Allisha) Burden; three daughters, Christina (Husband-Terry) Winningham, Nikki Burden (Partner-Brian Buchanan), Tracy (Husband-Mike) Stacy. Three step-daughters, Robin (Husband-Tony) Richardson, Cheryl (Husband-Bill) Phillips, Karen (Husband- Ray) Gragg. Two sisters, Gloria Bainter, Jeannie Hitchens, one step sister, Nancy (Husband-Steve) Groman, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by by his parents, his son, Jerry L. Burden Jr; brother Larry Burden Sr.; step father Donald "Wink" Logan; stepsister Carolyn Neal; mother-in-law Mable (Jackson) Wood; father-in-law Clarence Rainey; brother-in-law's Dan Hitchens, Robert and Jack Rainey and Jack Neal Sr. Jerry's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Gibson and staff, IU Ball Memorial Hospital Cancer Center's Dr. Williamson, Hospice and staff, Simon and Bren Cancer Center of Indianapolis, IN, Great Lakes Home Health of Kokomo, IN, family and friends for your continued love, support and prayers throughout his brief illness. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. till the time of the service.
