AUX SOINS DE
Elm Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Park
Janice Kay (Ward) Talhelm, 66, of Muncie, went to her eternal home in Heaven on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at home. She was born in Flint, Michigan, on July 22, 1955, the daughter of Russell and Nancy (Leonard) Ward. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School in Michigan and went to beauty college.
Jan married the love of her life, Kenneth Talhelm, on November 1, 1975, and they later moved from Evart, Michigan, to Muncie, Indiana, in 1976. She was an awesome mother to her three children: Linda Rose, Michael Talhelm, and Nicolette Fan, and the best Nana to her grandchildren. She was known as "Bugs" and "Aunt Bugs" to her family. She often babysat for the nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and children of friends. Jan was always taking them on field trips to fun places.
Jan filled her days by doing water aerobics at the YMCA, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, volunteering at nursing homes, and the prison ministry with the R.U. Program. She loved reaching out to the international students across the world, taking them under her wing.
Jan was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a born-again believer in Christ. She was active in AWANA, the Living Christmas Tree, the bus ministry, and visitation of the families of the children that attended church. She was also the librarian, substitute teacher, and food service worker at Heritage Hall Christian School.
Jan leaves behind her loving husband of forty-five years, Kenneth; her son, Michael (Krista) Talhelm; her daughters, Linda (Billy) Rose and Nicolette (Zach) Fan; eight grandchildren, Mackenzie (Rose) York (husband, Matt), Alexis Rose, Alivia Rose, Caden Rose, Elijah Fan, Aliyah Fan, Maizey Talhelm, and Hudson Talhelm; one great-grandchild, Emery York. She also leaves behind six brothers, five sisters, many nieces and nephews, and a partridge in a pear tree.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Nancy Ward; sister-in-law, Sande Ward; and brother-in-law, Brian Hannah.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 6401 West River Road, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
Services will be on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church. Pastor Rory Bond will officiate.

The family would like to thank caregivers: Linda, Nikki, Jennifer, and several friends from church, for the awesome care they gave to Jan during her illness.
Memorial contributions may be given to: Heritage Hall Christian School SGO Scholarship Fund, 6401 West River Road, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
