Robert D. George of Midlothian, VA and formerly of Brielle, NJ passed on January 18, 2023. He was born in Glen Ridge, NJ February 21, 1933. Mr. George is survived by his loving and supportive Wife, Joan F. George; three sons, Robert & wife Sally of Richmond, VA, Gregory of Newark, NJ, and Christopher of Hollywood, Florida; and three grandchildren, Thomas George, Laken Raye George and Wesley George. He was predeceased by his parents, Leighton and Mildred George; his sister, Mildred Westervelt of Mt. Airey, NC; and his brother, Leighton T. George of Arnold, CA. Bob was a member and Secretary of the Jackson, NJ Lions Club and the Pt. Pleasant, NJ Lions Club. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jackson, NJ Chamber of Commerce and Pt. Pleasant, NJ Chamber of Commerce. He was a licensed New Jersey and North Carolina Real Estate Broker and member of the Ocean County, NJ Board of Realtors. He served in the US Air Force in the Korean theater where he was assigned to early warning radar sites at mountain and island locations during the war. Following his discharge, he embarked on a diversified career, first as a Field Engineer with IBM when computers were in their infancy. Following his marriage to then Joan F. Luker, they moved to Falls Church, VA where Bob was employed as an engineer conducting missile countermeasures research at Melpar Inc. Bob and Joan subsequently returned to New Jersey where he was employed at Electronic Associates, an analog computer manufacturer. There, he worked on the preparation of proposals for analog systems to meet government contract requirements. Sometime later, he joined the Textiles Division of Monsanto where he subsequently became manager of the wage & salary administration. He was later employed by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in the same position. Ultimately, he changed to a career in real estate where he owned a successful Century 21 Real Estate business for 10 years, subsequently selling it. He then bought land in Point Pleasant NJ in 1982. He and his son Robert built a building and Bob opened a transmission franchise. They added on to it for a tenant about 7 years later. In 1991, Bob sold the business, kept the building, and retired. Bob and Joan then moved to Wilmington, NC, to enjoy warmer weather. They lived there for about 24 years, then moved to Richmond to be near Robert, Sally and Thomas.
