Maureen Elizabeth Mayes

Maureen Mayes, lovingly known as “Reeny,” passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Throckmorton Sr. and her mother, Sarah Walker Throckmorton. She is survived by her son John Mayes Sr, her daughter-in-law Jean, grandson John Jr., her brother Wallace Throckmorton Jr., and her sister Katherine Miller. Maureen grew up in Highland Springs, Virginia – working for the Virginia Department of Health until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed the beach – especially Sandbridge, reading, and crossword puzzles, but her happiest moments were being around her grandson, watching and helping him grow. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
