TEXTER, Dr. John Henry, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on May 21, 2019, at the age of 82. He was born June 13, 1936, in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John Henry Texter and Florence Hoyer Texter. He was also predeceased by his brother, Russell Texter, of Sharon, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the John Hopkins University School of Medicine, he completed his urological residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins Brady Institute. John practiced urology at the Medical College of Virginia from 1971 to 1981, and became Chairman of the Division of Urology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1981, until his retirement in 1998. John, known for his wit, humor, charm and devotion, will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Joy T. Texter; his daughter, Rebecca Texter Arlauskas, her husband, Joseph and their son, Seth; his son, John Henry Texter III, his wife, Lori and their children, Zeke, Emma and Eli; his niece, Anna Kanter, her husband, Jonathan and their daughter, Miriam; his nephew, Benjamin Turpin; and two special doggies, Max and Mandy. A celebration of John’s life will be conducted at Winfree Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Winfree Memorial Baptist Church, 13617 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian, Virginia 23113 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Arrangements are being handled by Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Midlothian, Virginia.
