Charles Forest Pierce (74) of Midlothian, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Almer and Irene Pierce; and three of his brothers, Alan Dearl, James Earl and Thurman Ray, all of Duplin County, NC.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rosa Lee; daughter Tammy Russell and husband, Joe; daughter, Monica Balduf and husband, Paul; grandson Alex Russell; granddaughters Sarah Ashley and Faith Balduf; sisters, Pearl Cavanaugh and husband Larry, Pam Harrall and husband David; and his brother Eugene Pierce and wife Linda; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was a decorated soldier for his acts of heroism during the war. He earned many medals, one of which was the Purple Heart.
Charles worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and retired after 30 years of service. He was a Transportation Operations Manager where he worked with the “Bridge Crew”.
Charles, affectionately known as Charlie to many, was a fun-loving, warm-hearted, and kind man who was devoted to his wife and family. Anyone that knew him, knew how much his family meant to him, especially his grandchildren. He loved being Papa to Alex, Sarah Ashley and Faith. He also loved being Papa Charles to extended family members, the McClenathans, and treated them just like his own. Charlie would do anything for anyone; always willing to help a friend or family in need. He was quite the handyman and could fix just about anything.
Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his savior 19 years ago. He was a member at Village Church in Midlothian, VA for almost 10 years. He served on the Parking Team and the Greeting Team at his church. He loved serving on the greeting team because he could talk to everyone that walked by. If you knew Charlie, you knew his love for conversation. He would talk to everyone and gladly share his stories. Charles could make a friend wherever he would go. He had never met a stranger.
Charlie loved to hunt and fish and eat southern fried seafood. He enjoyed taking trips to the beach and mountains with his wife and family.
