Sandra Lea Skyles

Sandra (Sandy) Lea Hartwell Skyles went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2024. Sandy was born in Cheverly, Maryland on October 31, 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth Schaeffer. Surviving to cherish her memory are husband, Steve Skyles; daughter, Kathy Markham, daughter, Sarah Tyler and her husband John; grandchildren, Gavin Hartwell, Zachary, Hunter and Sammi Tyler, Lauren, Kirsten and Chris Markham, Courtney Wiseman; great-granddaughter, Amelia Campbell; sister, Mary Monroe and her husband Bill; brother, John Schaeffer; nephew, Michael Monroe and family; Aunt, Betty Hartwell Davis; brother-in-law, Dan Skyles and his wife Joella, brother-in-law John Skyles and his wife Carol; numerous cousins; and a very special friend, Trish Clark. Sandy grew up in Miami, Florida and graduated from Miami Edison High School. She later moved to Virginia and began her long distinguished career in the insurance underwriting field. She worked for several insurance companies including Charles Lunsford Sons and Associates, Doctors Insurance Reciprocal and lastly Kinsale Capital Group. Sandy loved seafood, especially oysters and blue crabs, camping with her family, gardening and spending time with her family. Sandy was a very kind and caring person who always found the good in everyone. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted for Sandy at some future date.
