Barbara Jean Carter

Carter, Barbara Jean, 79, of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Carter, her high school sweetheart. She is survived by her children, Kim and Jim Woodward, Cyndi and David Nelson, grandchildren, Bryan Nelson (Samantha), Carter Kinsey (Maggie), and Katie Wilmer (Carson); great- grandchildren, Cal, Ralph, Raven, and Kathy and Heath Denton; grandchildren, Laine Denton (Courtney), Trevor Denton (Elyse), Heather Denton, and great-grandson, Brooks. She was an amazing wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. Barbara was known by name in the community as “Wawa” and was adored. She attended every event that involved her children and grandchildren. Wawa enjoyed crocheting infant hats for Little Hats, Big Hearts, prayer shawls, and seasonal water bottle coasters for student desks at Rural Point Elementary School. A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family.
