Thomas Benjamin Cooper, 82, of Calabash, NC passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017. He was born in Roanoke County, VA, September 21, 1935 to the late Benjamin Franklin Cooper and the late Mildred Hill Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Agnes Patterson Cooper and a brother, Jerry Cooper.
He is survived by his sons, Benjamin Ray Cooper of Riceville, TN, and Michael Todd Cooper of Kotzebue, AK; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Cooper Coghlan and her husband, Dennis Charles Coghlan of Wayne, NJ. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Audrey Lyn Cooper, Lauren Ashley Stetser, Benjamin Charles Coghlan, and three great-grandchildren, Addie, Emmie and Tommy Stetser; a brother, Allen Cooper of Gonzales, LA; sisters, Barbara Mays of Wilmington, NC and Maryann Saia of Little River, SC, and many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church of Calabash, NC. He enjoyed landscaping, hunting, fishing and reading. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put everyone else first. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Friday 6 pm to 8 pm at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 109 Broad St., Martinsville. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Dodd Mays officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Services, Martinsville, VA.
