Lorena Compton, 96, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017. She was born June 8, 1921 in Ridgeway, VA., to Harry T. and Irene S. Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Logan Compton; her son, Glenn Compton; 1 sister, Helen C. Eggleston; 5 brothers, Wallace, Jesse, Tom, John and Sonny Buck (Harry) Cox.
Lorena was a sales associate at Leggett and Belk in Martinsville Virginia. She was an active member of Fontaine Baptist Church in Martinsville Virginia.
She is survived by her daughter Katherine C. Westmoreland and husband Mike;
grandchildren, Melissa C. Shepard, Kristi W. Mong, and Amy W. Ladimir; 5 great-grandchildren, Brooke, Logan, Lauren, Andrew and Beau; sisters, Frances Hundley, Juanita Ramsey, Clara Mize and Barbara Martin; and brother Kennon Cox.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 730 E. Church Street, #13, Mart. VA 24112; Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O. Box 1301, Stuart, VA. 24171; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, VA 24112
The funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at McKee Stone Funeral Home with Rev. David Westmoreland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
