Michael J. Small

Michael J. Small, 14 of Bluffton passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019. Michael attended Lancaster Elementary School before attending Norwell Middle School. He was involved in 4-H and Student Council at Norwell Middle School. He played the clarinet and saxophone in the Norwell Marching Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band. He attended Summer STEM Camp and was a member of the Norwell Middle School Academic Team. Michael enjoyed baking, reading, drawing and writing. He loved history and often spoke of being many things. Michael loved music and being part of the band, he had a great sense of humor, and he loved animals and helping others. He was a straight “A” student at Norwell Middle School. He was very mechanical and liked to tinker and was always willing to help out when needed. Michael was born on November 11, 2005 in Bluffton, Indiana, the son of James and Melissa (Freds) Small. Survivors include his mother: Melissa Small of Bluffton; his father and stepmother: James (Kim) Small of Ossian; two sisters: Elizabeth Small of Bluffton; Julianna Small of Bluffton; maternal grandparents: John (Donna) Freds of Markle; paternal grandmother: Nancy Small of Maryland; paternal grandmother: Ruth Small of Fort Wayne; five uncles: Dan (Jennifer) Freds of Markle; David (Jeff) Freds of Lafayette; David (Neva) Small of Virginia; Steven Small of Maryland; Phillip Small of Fort Wayne; an aunt: Debi (Javi) DeJesus of Fort Wayne and a niece: Evelyn Small of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: Thomas Small. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Norwell Middle School Gymnasium, at the main middle school entrance at door 33, 1100 US-224, Ossian, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Interment will be at the Sparks Cemetery in Markle. Memorial donations can be made out to Norwell Marching Band in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
