Richard Carlton Wooldridge

Richard Carlton Wooldridge, 67, of Madison Heights, passed away May 9, 2012. He is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Yvonne Cumbie Wooldridge. Born February 23, 1945, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Caswell Thomas Wooldridge Sr. and Annie Casey Wooldridge. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Wooldridge Jr.; and two sisters, Katherine W. Grimes, and Margaret W. Gallier. Mr. Wooldridge was retired from May Bros., after 20 years of service. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Survivors also include six children, John B. “Bernie” Wilson and wife Lisa, Denise W. Stinnette and husband Mark, Teresa W. Hudson and husband Jim, all of Madison Heights, Diane W. Childress and husband Carlton, of Lynchburg, Crystal W. Daniel and husband Shannon, and Lacy W. Zirnsak and husband Patrick, of both of Madison Heights; a sister, Betty W. Beasley and husband Gary, of Madison Heights; a dear nephew, Robert James Wooldridge and wife Sandra, of Forest, 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home by the Rev. Carey Forbus. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Monelison Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
