Rev. Mark Allen Braswell, 50, of Lynchburg, went home to be with Jesus, Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Janet Mitchell Braswell. Born February 6, 1962, in Banner Elk, NC, he was the son of Rabon Linnie Braswell and Judy Greene Steadman.
Mark was a lumber buyer for Burruss Lumber Company and he was also a teacher at Clearview Christian School. He was also a member of Clearview Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a pastor. Mark also served as a pastor for the Autumn Care Nursing Home in Altavista. Mark enjoyed coaching basketball for Clearview Christian School and he also was a certified teacher by the ACI Christian School Association in Bebe, AR.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mark is survived by his son, Nathan Allen Braswell of Lynchburg; two siblings, Tim Braswell and his wife Teresa of Concord and Sherri Steadman of Lynchburg; his step-father, Jerrell Steadman; his step-mother, Vet Braswell; special nieces and nephews; and his canine companions, Izzy and Sophie.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Clearview Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Greene, Rev. Terry Cook and Rev. Gary Greene officiating. Interment will follow at the Clearview Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2012, at Clearview Baptist Church and at other times at the residence of Judy Steadman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
