Joyce Shiflett Taylor

Joyce Ann Shiflett Taylor, 74, of Lynchburg, passed away on, Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife to Richard Lawrence Taylor for 56 years. Born August 16, 1942 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James Carroll Shiflett and Nora Virginia Crawford Shiflett. Joyce graduated in 1960 from E.C. Glass High School and was a member of Fairview Christian Church. While her daughters were little, she was a substitute teacher for LCA when it first opened. Joyce taught Bible school and helped with the children’s choir in her church. Joyce’s love for others was evident in everything she did, whether it was feeding the animals, helping others, or just being the neighborhood mom. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Laura Ann Taylor, and Melissa Lynn Taylor both of Lynchburg; and numerous special sons, daughters, and grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Rev. Rick Foster. The family will receive friend’s one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
