Joyce Marie Lakes

Joyce Marie Lakes, 80 of Lynchburg passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was born in Danville on January 31, 1944, daughter of the late Eugene N. Cofflin and the late Geneva M. Cofflin. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Curtis “Boopie” Buford Lakes. Joyce was a member of Sandusky Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and caregiving for children in her home. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kevin W. Lakes and wife Emily; five grandchildren, Jason Wells and Heather Wells both of who she raised, Kevin Lakes, Jr. and wife Justine, Hailey Lakes Surratt and husband Austin and John Mitchell Marks; a brother, Blacky Cofflin; and a sister, Barbara Sain. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Fort Hill Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor David Turner.
