Jackie S. King, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Centra Hospice in Bedford.
Born on December 31, 1935 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Oliver C. King and Mary J. King. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Jackie proudly served in the United States Army and once his service was completed, worked as a truck driver for Atlas Van Lines and retired from Marvin V. Templeton & Sons. Jackie loved playing guitar and was a very talented musician and singer. He was considered a “jack of all trades” and was a gifted mechanic.
Jackie is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Betty Jane Leebrick King; his children, Nancy King Leonard and her husband Wayne of Concord, Jackie (Buzz) King Jr. and his wife Kerian of Rustburg; grandchildren Elizabeth King, Mary King, Jack King III, Hailey Leonard; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Reverend Dr. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Jackie’s name are asked to consider Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center for the excellent care they showed to Jackie over the years, 1701 Thomson Drive, Lynchburg, VA
