Paul Portwood, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in West College Corner, Indiana on Monday, February 6, 2012.
He was born in Oxford, Ohio on May 1, 1938 to Dunlap and Alene Richardson Portwood. On November 7, 1970, Paul married his wife of more than forty years, the former Carolyn White. He worked for Capitol Drycleaners from 1957 until his recent retirement in 2011. Paul’s hobbies included restoring antique motorcycles, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for a great love of his family, strong work ethic, ingenuity, generosity, and the ability to fix anything.
Paul is survived by: his wife, Carolyn; his children and their spouses: Pam Portwood, of College Corner; Paul Dean and Lisa Albright Portwood, of Oxford; Deana and Dave Reeder, of West College Corner, Indiana; a step-son: Jim Van Winkle, of Amelia Island, Florida; three grandchildren: David, Jamie, Madi Reeder; siblings: Ron Portwood, of West College Corner, Indiana; Linda Rudy and her husband, Ken, of Marion; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; an infant son; siblings: Billy Ray Portwood; Cheryl Jean Everett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, with Britt Hensley of the Trinity Holiness Church officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m., where memorial donations may be made to the West College Corner Volunteer Fire Department or the Cafeteria Fund in care of the Cafeteria at College Corner Union School.
