Patricia was born in Clinton, Indiana, on November 26, 1940, to Lloyd Kress and Mary Lucille Lowry. She was a graduate of Fontanet High School in Fontanet, Indiana and attended Butler University and Valparaiso University. Patricia was married Beauford (Gene) Gavin in 1961. Patricia worked at several jobs during her lifetime including Richmond Wal-Mart, the 2000 U.S. Census, the Liberty License Branch and in earlier years at Columbia Records in Terre Haute. During this time, she was also a domestic engineer raising her family. She also volunteered at Union Count Middle School and was a 4H Horse and Pony Adult Leader for several years. Patricia was a member of Brownsville United Methodist Church, Order of The Eastern Star, Delta Theta Tau, and the Republican Party. She enjoyed her family and will be sadly missed..
Patricia is survived by three daughters and their spouses: Sabrina Ann Gavin of Indianapolis, Ravenna Marie Brown and Kirby of Liberty, and Eugena Monroe and Stephen of Brookville; one brother: Charles Kevlin and wife, Karen of Indianapolis; three sisters: Sharon Nigro and husband, John of Shawnee, KS, Lynn Kelvin of Shawnee, KS, and Karman Pate of Indianapolis; five grandchildren: Zachariah Gavin and Ry, Lavinia Brookshire, Evelyn Monroe, Austin Ford, and Ashley Ford; three great-grandchildren: Vylette Gavin, Evan Hoskins, and Austin Reece; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband on September 15, 2007.
A public graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Richland Cemetery, with Pastor Shelly Dodson of the Brownsville UMC officiating. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel in Liberty where memorial contributions may be made to the Brownsville UMC.
