Rita D Townsend

Rita Deanna (Hounchell) Townsend, 76, passed away on August 12, 2022 at Community Howard at 6:51am. She was born in Kenvir, Kentucky on March 1, 1946 to Clayton E, & Mary (Collett) Hounchell. Rita married Kenneth D. Townsend on April 15, 1962 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Rita earned a Technical Certificate in Accounting from Ivy Tech in August 2011. She worked for Emerson Appliance Controls in Frankfort for 17 years. She earned an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification and loved cooking & gardening. Rita is survived by her husband Kenneth; son Keith D. Townsend; daughter Barbara K. Idol; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Rita is preceded in death by her parents; sister Anna “Jean” Parkhurst; brothers Bobby “Bob” E. Hounchell & Billy “Bill” C. Hounchell. There will be no services planned as per the family’s wishes. Ellers Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
