Vibart John Hicks, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 20th, 2024, in Indianapolis. Vibart was born in Georgetown, Guyana to Edward and Muriel Hicks on July 3rd, 1950. He graduated from Paddington and Maida Vale High School in London, England and shortly thereafter moved to the United States. Notably, he committed 24 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Army, showcasing his dedication and earning the status of a Gulf War veteran. During his time in the Army, he was awarded two Bronze Star Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, and an Air Assault Badge. While serving, he also obtained his bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University. Afterwards, he devoted over two decades to the US Postal Service as a postal worker. Vibart was always on the go; he had places to be and people to see. Generous with his time, he actively contributed to various causes. His involvement extended to the VFW as a former District Commander and Post Commander. He was also a dedicated member of The American Legion, AMVETS, Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge #398 and the Murat Shrine. Vibart will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Caitlin, Lauren, and Braeden; his brother, Lennox; and his six sisters, Winifred, Morlena, Lynette, Lorretta, Pauline, and Margaret. He will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren, Mason, Madison, and Leah; and his former wife Jennifer. Vibart was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Muriel; his six brothers, Herman, Charles, Cecil, Victor, Calvin, and John; and his sister Wavney. A visitation for Vibart will be held Sunday, January 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. The Hicks Family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time of loss.
