Nécrologie de Odie J.L. Ausbrooks
Odie J.L. Ausbrooks - Odie went home to Jesus in the early morning of Aug. 27, 2021. He was born on August 12, 1925 to the late Orbin & Ida Ausbrooks. He had just celebrated his 96th birthday with his children. Odie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Imogene, in 2009. He is survived by his children: Connie (Stan) Glover, Mick (Donna) Ausbrooks, Beverly (Jorge) Iglesias, and Ralph (Joy) Ausbrooks. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, whom he was very proud of. Odie was born in Sumner County, Tennessee. He was a hard worker, who only went to 8th grade because he had to help his father on the farm. He worked to help his father until, as a 17 year old, he enlisted in the Marines during World War 2. He was a Corporal and served in the Pacific at Iwo Jima and occupied Japan. After he returned from the war, he met his wife and went to agriculture school. He had his own farm, but it was hard to make a living. He moved to Indiana in 1950 and worked at the Railroad Yards in Beech Grove. He later became a carpenter with the Adams Construction Company and helped build many of the housing additions in Beech Grove from those days. He later became a warehouseman with National Tea Corp., retiring from there. He loved his family and worked hard for them. He loved his Lord and church. At his death, he was a member of Gracepoint Church in Whiteland, IN. He also raised the best tasting tomatoes of anywhere. He spent the last years of his life at Christina Place Assisted Living in Franklin. The family cannot express enough how thankful they are for the love and care given by the staff there. A visitation and service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021 at Little & Sons Funeral Home 4901 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis.
