Nancy Ann Catton

Nancy Ann Catton, 58, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, August 8, 2021. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted mother, Dottie Catton, sister and best friend, Cathy Catton, brothers and sisters-in-law Steve and Deb Catton, Mark and Germaine Catton and Ed and Lisa Catton, nieces and nephews Will (Emily) Catton, Jamie (Reid) Garlock, Nick (Natalie) Catton, Beth (Jamie) Reardon, Sam Catton, Ben Catton, Shane Catton, and Lauren Catton, and 7 great-nieces and nephews. In addition, she will be sadly missed by her wonderful aunts and uncles who were so good to her throughout her life: Dolores Conner, Jeanne O’Gara, Joanne and Bill Johnson, and Tom and Pat Catton, as well as numerous cousins, neighbors, and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Jim Catton (who she fondly called Daddy-O), paternal grandparents Bill and Thelma Catton, maternal grandparents Frank and Stella Mayer, uncles Tom Conner, Tom O’Gara, Dick Mayer, aunt Rita Mayer, and nephew Kyle Catton. Nancy lived a happy and remarkable life with her loving family in Indianapolis. She was born on November 7, 1962, and was a lifelong member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She attended Hilltop school until age 19 and then proudly worked at Janus Developmental Services in Noblesville for almost 40 years. She loved her job and coworkers and never wanted to miss a day of work. Nancy loved bowling with the Saturday morning Trailblazers group at Woodland Bowl. She loved the Colts, the Pacers, Notre Dame football, and IU, Purdue, and Butler basketball. She loved swimming in the lake, weekend walks, playing gin rummy and shooting pool with her Daddy-O. She loved shopping with her mom, eating out at restaurants, and hosting and attending family parties. Nancy loved her St. Pius X family. She devotedly attended Sunday Mass and actively participated with SPRED for many years. In her younger years she enjoyed competing in Special Olympics, especially swimming and track and field events. She loved watching The Brady Bunch and Golden Girls while meticulously completing latch hook projects for some very lucky recipients. She enthusiastically accompanied her parents and her sister Cathy on many vacations including trips to Europe, Alaska, Canada and Florida, cruises to the Caribbean and even a train trip to the western US. Nancy never met a stranger and became best friends with new people on every trip they took. People loved Nancy for her joy and complete acceptance of everyone she met. We are broken-hearted to face life without our precious Nancy. Each sibling had a unique and loving bond with Nancy. From a young age, our parents told us that our sister was a special angel from heaven chosen for our family. We were to always watch over and love her. She was the center of our family and the light of our lives. Nancy made all of us better people. She spoke with an honest innocence with everyone she met. She taught us to love, to forgive, and to take care of one another. She taught us all to laugh at ourselves and to always have fun. We rejoice that she is undoubtedly in the presence of Jesus now, and we know that she will be praying for all of us to join her in Heaven one day. Funeral services for Nancy will be private. We invite family and friends to join us for a Celebration of Nancy’s Life on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Highland Country Club, 1050 West 52nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46228. We wish to thank all the wonderful people who helped care for Nancy in the final months of her life, especially the employees of the Altruist Group, Comforcare and St. Vincent Hospice.
