Nécrologie de Michael Lynn Scherer
Michael (“Mike”) Lynn Scherer of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away on September 10, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence (“Clem”) and Juanita Scherer and his wife, Judith (“Judy”) Scherer (Goldman). Mike is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly ("Kim”) Huey and Melinda (“Mindy”) Caldwell, his sons-in-law Jesse Huey and Tom Caldwell, and his four grandchildren, Cole and Holland Caldwell and Landon and Harrison Huey. Mike is also survived by his sister, Nancy Arbuckle, of Indianapolis. Mike was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 2, 1942. He attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. Mike also received a Master of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington. Mike married Judy in 1973 in Huntingburg, Indiana. Judy suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and he cared for her at home for 18 years until she passed in 2008. He was a family man to his core and enjoyed spending time with his two daughters and his four grandkids. When both of his daughters moved to the Carolinas, he moved down there as well to be closer to his family. He enjoyed fishing (rarely catching), going on walks, spending time with his grandkids, and working on his golf game. He also had a weakness for dessert. Mike started his own company, Technetics Corporation. He enjoyed working for himself for 45 years and said it never seemed like work as he loved what he did. Mike was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army as a first lieutenant. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm September 22, 2023, at Crown Hill Funeral Home in Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all those that loved, laughed with, and supported Mike and their family over the years.
