Nécrologie de Mary E McClaren
Mary Elizabeth Gifford McClaren was born on August 26, 1929, to parents Ralph and Louise Gifford and was raised by her stepmother, Ava Gifford. She attended the Indiana public school system and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1947. Mary married Fred McClaren, and from this union, one beloved daughter, Leesa, was born. She and Fred remained friends until his passing. Mary's career spanned many years as a caregiver, providing in-home care to her patients. After a brief retirement period, Mary returned to work at The Kiddie Factory Daycare, where she lovingly cared for infants in the infant room. Later in life, she continued caring for her daughter Leesa. An avid traveler, Mary shared countless fond memories of visiting places such as New Orleans, Florida, and Oregon, often accompanying church conferences and enjoying vacations with family and friends. Mary's culinary skills were exceptional, and her soul food dishes, with a "gourmet" touch, were cherished by her family. Among them, her chili and coney dishes were family favorites. Mary was passionate about shopping, frequently seen with her daughter Leesa in various fashion malls on weekends. Both shared a love for dressing nicely, always keeping up with the latest fashions. Known by many names—Momma, Nana, Aunt Mary, Moms, Miss Mary, and Godmother—she held a special title within her church family as "Mother McClaren." Mary possessed a lifelong enduring faith and love for God, which she consistently shared with her family and friends. Despite lacking a formal counseling degree, Mary was sought after regularly for her wise and Godly counsel. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Emma Lane, and her beloved daughter Leesa. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her grandsons, Brandon and Quinn, great-grandson Kingston, granddaughters Saabrina and Asia, Goddaughter Cathy, granddog Zuma, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In closing, Mary's legacy is one of love, faith, and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed.
