Mary H. Lewis was born March 24th 1945, she was born along with her twin sister, Martha Hatton, to the late Rev. James and Irene Hatton, of St Joseph, Louisiana. Mary learned at an early age about helping people, she graduated from Tensaw Rosenwald High School. Mary lived her life to the fullest everyday, by the time she was an adult she was a mother of 3 children: Gennice, Frederick and Tilton. She was always at the school checking on the kids, making sure they were doing all right. Mary worked at the Clark County Health Department in Las Vegas, Nevada, she worked for them many years until she decided to relocate to Indianapolis Indiana. It was here that she came to the Lord, she lived a Holy Life. She worked in the church, with the Hospitality, she was a Usher, she sang in the Choir, worked in the kitchen and many other things, but she did them all to the Glory of God. She was a member of Greater St John COGIC under Pastor Earl Hatton, she continued to work for the Lord. She served for the last 2 years at Family Worship Center COGIC, under the Leadership of Pastor Percy White. Mary worked for C.R.F First Choice, where she cared for the mentally challenged and the elderly. She was a great fisherman and a good bowler. She most of all LOVED her family, she did whatever she could to keep things going on. She volunteered at ''Wineskin," helping feed hundreds of families, she never met a stranger and if she did, she would always greet them with a smile. Mary departed this earthly life on October 3, 2023. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, a host of sisters & brothers, and her grandson Dondre Hatton. She leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Jacqueline (Percy) White, 2 sons, Frederick (Sandra) Hatton, and Tilton (Tamatha) Hatton, 3 sisters Louise Hatton, Lula McGraw and Hattie Taylor and 1 brother Earl Hatton, her grandchildren; Darius (Mia) White, Unique White, Nathaniel White, my sweet T'Mari, precious "DJ", Shy’La “Lil Mama”, and Sierra “Shug”.
