Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary
Our dear mother, Marcella B. Smith, sadly passed away on July 31, 2024, at the age of 100, after a beautifully lived life. She was a wonderful mother of eight children and was always there when we needed her most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A beloved friend to hundreds, she was a cherished member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church community on the eastside of Indianapolis, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph T. Smith; her sisters, Agnes Matthews and Mary Strange; and her brothers, Jerome Matthews, Joseph Matthews, and Francis Matthews. She leaves behind her eight children: Jane Green, Barbara Farlow, Francis Smith, Kathy Kreuzman, Judith Armentrout, Joseph Smith, John Smith, and Chris Smith. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity.
To commemorate her incredible life journey and to celebrate the love she shared, a viewing will be held in her honor at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary on Tuesday, August 6, from 3:00-7:00 PM, at 1307 Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46219. A Catholic Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 7, at 11:00 AM, at 7243 E 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Interment immediately following the mass at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis, 435 West Troy Avenue.
We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman.
In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 2500 Churchman Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
