Nécrologie de Jack Everett Schneider
Jack Everett Schneider, 91, died June 27, 2013. Mr. Schneider was born in Indianapolis on March 12, 1922, to Anna and Louis Schneider. Although his only brother, George, died in childhood, Jack enjoyed a near-sibling relationship with his cousin, the late Earl Schaaf, of Louisville. Mr. Schneider attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1940. There, he met June Botner, and they were married in 1942, just before he left for service in the U.S. Navy. He served in the South Pacific, on Peleliu Island, and after a brief stay in Hawaii, he vowed to return there someday with his wife. After his military service, Mr. Schneider graduated from Butler University with a degree in pharmacy. He returned to work at Eli Lilly, & Co., retiring in 1979 as manager of corporate purchasing. Jack and June Schneider were married for 56 years, until 1998, when his beloved wife died. They were the parents of three children: Barbara Oberreich, Roger Schneider (Jana), and Walter Schneider (Angelica). Then came six grandchildren: Daniel and Matthew Foote, Ryan and David Schneider, and Amy and Beth Schneider, and four great-grandsons, Benicio and Manolo Foote and Isaiah and Logan Schneider. Favorite family vacations were at St. Petersburg Beach, FL, and Stony Lake, MI. In retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Schneider were able to take those long-anticipated vacations in Hawaii. Also in retirement, the Schneiders devoted many hours of service to Faith Presbyterian Church, and they also worked together to help many of their elderly neighbors through difficult times. Mr. Schneider's family extends thanks to the staff and residents of GreenTree Assisted Living and Sunrise Senior Living for their care and friendship.
