Charles R. Most, age 85, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Charles was born October 12, 1935 to Carl E. and Anna L. Most in Fort Wayne, IN. He was an Eagle Scout and Sea Scout. He graduated in the class of 1953 from Shortridge High School. He went on to Purdue University on an Academic Scholarship earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. He took numerous post-graduate academic and business courses over several years. He was also a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Charles served in the Army Reserve with active duty as chemical engineer officer in a Strategic Army Command unit. His career included Production Supervisor for U.S. Rubber Co (Uniroyal); Project Engineer, Stewart Warner Corp.; joined Union Carbide's Coatings Service Business, eventually becoming the first General Manager of Union Carbide Deutschland GmbH, after which he headed business delegations to Moscow and Beijing in 1978. After an early retirement, he became Sr. VP of Chicago-based company following with work as a technical, business, and marketing consultant for firms in Milwaukee and Houston, retiring in 2001. In the course of his career, he and his family resided in Birmingham, MI; Bethany, CT; Ratingen, Germany; Ogden Dunes, IN; Elm Grove, WI; and the Woodlands, TX. He was a member of ASM International and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, he had also served on the board of directors of the Indiana German Heritage Society. He is survived by his wife, Nadine; two children, Richard and Rachel Most; two grandchildren; five sisters and one brother. Charitable donations can be made to the Riviera Club Foundation 5640 N. Illinois Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1st at 11:00am at Crown Hill Cemetery. Please meet in the entrance to Crown Hill located at 34th and Boulevard.
