Carolyn Sue Welsh

Carolyn Sue Welsh, age 87, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023. Carolyn was born in Elwood, Indiana to Katherine Sigward and Sylvester Sigward. Carolyn was a graduate of Purdue University earning her BS in Chemistry. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She went on to work for Bordon Foods, Mosely Laboratory, the Board of Heath and in retirement at Meijer. While she was a hard worker, she loved to listen to Jazz programs in person and on the radio. She was loved by friends and neighbors as her favorite thing to do was chatting about world events, the latest scientific discoveries or upcoming music program. In her younger years she was a wonderful pianist, organist and singer. She was the organist for St. Simon Church for many years as well as singer in the choir. The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at St. Vincent Hospital for their gentle care during her final hours. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Leona Borinstein (Phil Lande); her daughter Patricia Rea; her son Robert Welsh; and her son Joseph Welsh. Carolyn is also survived by grandchildren Margaret Gunderson (Danny), Jacob Borinstein (Danielle Woolard), Victoria Young (Zach), Patrick Welsh, Andrew Welsh, Leo Rea, Maria Rea, and Jacqueline Rea and Great Grandchildren Benton Young, Kennedy Young, and Eleanor Young. Carolyn was preceded in death by her son John Welsh; her father Sylvester Sigward and her mother Katherine Sigward; her brother William Sigward and her brother Theodore Sigward.
