Blake Alan Peloza Bowman December 4, 1983 - April 3,2021 A Celebration of Life will be held on May 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary in Indianapolis. There will be a live stream at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Facebook. The world too soon has lost a uniquely wise and solicitous "old soul" and the heavens have added a new shining star with the passing of Blake or "B-squared" as many friends called him. He succumbed to a cardiac arrest after a brief illness. Blake's "resume" is short, but his other-centered, personal legacy will impact the lives of family, friends, co-workers and neighbors that he touched forever. He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, moving with his parents to Indianapolis as an infant. Growing up there, he attended Jewish Community Center Early Childhood Development, lmmaculate Heart of Mary Grade School, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, lvy Tech and Purdue University. Blake's work history included Blake-by-the-Yard (his first "entrepreneurial" venture!), Atlas Super Market, Target, Starbuck's, Papa John's, Donato's and Half Price Books, the second and last of which were his favorite personal and life-learning experiences. Former colleagues describe him as a team player, hard worker, leader and natural marketer. As his parents, maternal grandfather and stepfather aged with associated health issues, Blake quit his job to be readily available for hands-on caregiving and support. This decision typified his selfless character. Postumous comments from friends describe him as a gentle giant (he was nearly 6'7") with a heart of gold, loyal and reliable, witty, intelligent, like a brother, quick to laugh... He was an avid sports fan actively participating in soccer, baseball and basketball. Butler University basketball, the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts and the Cincinnati Reds had a faithful supporter in him. Like all of us, Blake was not perfect. He knew that better than anyone and was in touch with his inner self. He grappled with insecurities and personal challenges, but ultimately was comfortable and at peace with himself. Confident in his convictions and beliefs, Blake found his life purpose and value reaching out to others. He adopted the mantra "Carpe diem". Although an only child with a small extended immediate family, Blake was blessed with a loving, laughing and engaged familial circle. His blood family included: doting grandparents; ever-awed mother and father; open-armed uncle and aunt; maternal and paternal cousins from Michigan, Ohio, Colorado, Texas, Croatia, ltaly, Austria, Germany, Australia and Canada. He was also very close to and embraced by his step-family: stepfather, step-siblings and their children in Indiana, lowa, Alabama, Kansas, Minnesota and North Carolina. Blake was predeceased by: paternal grandparents, Bob and Chrystal Bowman; maternal grandparents, Stan and Rita Peloza, and stepfather, Frank Bentz. He is survived by: father, Roy D. Bowman; mother Jody Peloza Bentz; paternal uncle Byrl (Mary) Bowman; paternal cousins Jen, Jodie, Bret; maternal third cousins in the Peloza, Stambulic and Zadkovic families. Step-siblings Denise (Derrick) Disney; Craig (Kristine) Bentz; Deb (Mark) Gervais and their respective children Josh, Jake, Kali, Cam, Corbin, Rachel and Matt.
