Sandra Alice Gilmer, 71, of Harrisonburg passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Sunnyside Retirement Community.
She was born on May 25, 1947 in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Arlene V. Baugher Gilmer.
Sandra lived in Harrisonburg her entire life and she was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She had many friends there and loved them all. While residing at Sunnyside she was treated like a princess, she was grateful for anyone who would visit her. She especially loved her best friend, John and enjoyed his visits. We are also thankful for the part that Susan, had in her life.
She is survived by three brothers, David F. Gilmer of Painesville, Ohio, Vince B. Gilmer and wife, Connie, of Harrisonburg, Del Gilmer, Sr. and wife, Carolyn, of Glen Allen; a sister, Jennifer G. Blosser and husband, Ed, of Luray; a sister-in-law, Linda Gilmer of Harrisonburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert G. Gilmer, Jr.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Sunnyside Retirement Community, Meredith Chapel, a private burial will be held at a later date.
Lindsey Funeral Homes and Crematory in Harrisonburg is handling arrangements.
