Ruby Braswell

Ruby L. Braswell, age 99, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022. Ruby was born February 7, 1923. Ruby was a native of Erwin, North Carolina and had been a resident of Hampton, VA for many years. She retired in 2015 from the Newport News Shipbuilding after 37 years serving on their custodial team. She attended the Warwick Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Braswell and parents, James Theodore and Ellen Harrington Lockamon. Ruby is survived by her son, Danny "Butch" Braswell; two grandchildren, Tina Paynter, Erica Braswell-Dalton; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Lubno, Dallas Paynter, Jaydah Whitmer, Cadence Dalton, Liam Dalton; brother, Ted Lockamon and his wife, Lynda; sister, Omara Southerland. The family will receive friends 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Friday, February 25, 2022 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Entombment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
