Robert L. Richmond, age 80, passed away at home on Sunday, June 13, 2010 surround by loved ones. He was a native of Summers County, West Virginia and had been a resident of the Peninsula since 1955.
Robert was a machinist with CSX railroad and retired in 1994 after over 40 years of service. He was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was also a member of the McMahon Lodge #303, A.F. & A.M. and the Newport News Scottish Rite Bodies.
Surviving members of his family include his wife of 60 years, Virginia Richmond; son, Jack L. Richmond and wife, Sandy of Lake Jackson, TX; daughter, Beverly Mehaffey and husband, Ronald of Williamsburg; grandchildren, Michael Mehaffey, Tammy Millirons, and Chris Richmond; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernard Richmond and wife, Anita, Jimmy Richmond and wife, Anna Lee, Denny Richmond and wife, Rosie, Glen Richmond and wife, Barbara, and Paul Richmond and wife, Hazel; sister-in-law, Eloise Richmond; and fourteen nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 5 to 7:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Robert's life will be on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Parkview Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Rusty Beck. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkview Baptist Church Building Fund, 604 Hilton Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23605.
