AUX SOINS DE
Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park
Mary Patricia Wright was born July 22, 1924 in Pitt Meadows, B.C., Canada. She peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on April 26, 2022, at her home in Yorktown, Virginia. In 1949, Pat left Canada to attend Southern California Bible College (SCBC, now Vanguard University). She was featured in the 1953 edition of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. While at SCBC, Pat met her husband, Jim, who was serving at the time as assistant pastor at Bellflower Assembly of God. She graduated in 1953, and married Jim that summer. They settled in Long Beach, California to raise their family, and were active in ministry at Bethany Church of Alhambra for over 35 years.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Pat worked at the Long Beach Unified School District as a records manager, and for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation (later the Boeing Company) as a production control analyst for 33 years. After her retirement from Boeing at the age of 76, Pat and Jim relocated to Mission Viejo, where they enjoyed being near their sons and four of their six grandchildren and became involved with the South Coast Christian Assembly in San Juan Capistrano. Pat and Jim shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. When Jim passed away in 2002, Pat moved to Yorktown, Virginia, to be near her daughter and family, and attended Warwick Assembly of God. A highlight was her involvement in Glenn Jones’ senior Sunday School class.
Pat was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, as well as her loving husband, Jim. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Noble (Lee) of Yorktown, VA, two sons Chuck and Paul in California, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Pat will be remembered for her listening ear, witty sense of humor, and willingness to pray for anyone who had a need. Pat was a true “prayer warrior.” She touched many lives with her compassionate and generous spirit, from ministering to the members of the Sunday School classes Jim taught, to supporting a variety of missionaries, to blessing friends and family with calls, cards, and thoughtful gifts. It was Pat’s desire that everyone she knew would know the Savior she loved so dearly, and with whom she now joyfully and peacefully resides.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Monday, May 9, at Warwick Assembly of God, 1228 Todds Lane, Hampton, Virginia. Visitation will take place at 10:00 am, with a service following at 11:00 am.
A subsequent service and burial will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California, as follows: Visitation on Wednesday, May 18, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Rose Hills Visitation Center. The service will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 1:00 pm, with a graveside service following.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Riverside Hospice for their loving care of Mom in her final months, as well as the prayerful and loving support of friends, neighbors, piano students, and their families. Professional services of care are entrusted to Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, Hampton, Virginia, and Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.
