Margaret Pike Hardison, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Sentara CarePlex. She was born February 7, 1931 in Wayne County, North Carolina, daughter of the last Walter and Rena Belle Pike. She had been a Peninsula resident since 1952. She became a registered nurse at James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina. She took great pride in being a nurse and was selflessly devoted to her patients, all of whom loved her dearly. She worked in many nursing fields, including pediatrics and public health in Hampton, Newport News, and Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Newmarket Baptist Church in Hampton. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth Edwards; and brother, Walter Pike. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James C. Hardison; daughter, Panice H. Clark; grandchildren, Ashby Pope and husband, James, and Patrick Clark; sister, Phyllis Turner; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment in Parklawn Memorial Park. Either flowers or memorial donations to Newmarket Baptist Church, 8309 Orcutt Avenue, Hampton, VA 23605, are appreciated.
