Juneda Russ

Juneda Russ, age 82, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Juneda Russ born September 29, 1929, the 6th child of the late Milton Turner & Aggie Shelton- Russ in Lincoln County, Arkansas; and transitioned from her earthly journey Tuesday, September 3, 2024 to her eternal resting with her proclaimed Savior to whom she made her declaration of faith “Can’t nobody do me like Jesus.” Juneda confessed her faith in Christ under the late Pastor Daniel Williams at St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church, Meroney, Arkansas and cherished his teaching and training for her lifelong faith journey. Her audacious memory made room for her gift of biblical testimonials of “Truth – the inerrant Word of God” with all whose paths intersected hers! She loved sharing her personal mantra of faith “Can’t nobody do me like Jesus.” She grew up in rural Star City, Arkansas, a proud graduate of Lincoln High School with great respect for Principal Fulton Walker and attended several Arkansas Vocational Education Programs. She moved to Brooklyn, New York where she lived for over forty years before moving to Hampton, Virginia to live with the most treasured gem of her life her daughter, and devoted caregiver. Juneda was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Jack & Comfort Shelton, William and Mary Russ, six brothers, Milton Jr., Charlie, Joe, William, Thirlo and Carnell Russ. Two sisters, Erma Russ Rolle and Myrtle Russ Mack. Left to cherish her memory is: her beloved daughter, Tajauna Nicole Russ of Hampton, Virginia; one sister, Minister Leatrice (Rev. Leroy) Glenns, Little Rock, AR; God-son, Khari (Crystal) Withers Sr, of Little Rock, AR; two God-daughters: Wanda Ford and Franka Offord both of New York; two Sisters-in-law: Clementine Russ of Monticello, AR, Melvina ‘Mary’ Russ of Moncks Corner, SC; endeared nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand nieces and great grand nephews, nieces, cousins, family, friends, and neighbors in Christ; and special prayer warrior, Sister Ollie Anderson. A visitation for Juneda will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM, and an interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
