Elizabeth Sears Johnson

Elizabeth Sears Johnson was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on May 3, 2015 at 104 years old. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church of Newport News for 79 years where she was engaged in many areas of service. Elizabeth was preceded in rest by her husband, Floyd W. Johnson; daughter, Helen J. Whitt; and two great-great-grandsons, Benjamin and Jacob Paxton. She is survived by her granddaughters, Bonnie Largena and husband Michael, of Hampton, and Elizabeth Murry and husband Jim of Marshall, Texas; great-grandchildren, Michelle Paxton and husband Jerry, Christopher Largena, Amanda Ahl and husband Joe, and Jessica Deason; great-great-grandchildren, Allen Todd Paxton and Sebastian Deason; sister, Jeanette Brigman of Weddington, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A service celebrating Elizabeth’s life will be held Friday, May 8, at 11:00 am, at the funeral home, officiated by the Reverend Dr. Paul Lawson. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
