Charles Edward White

Charlie was a one-of-a-kind caring and loving husband, dad, papa, brother, and uncle who touched the lives of us all. He has always put others before himself and worked hard to ensure everyone he loved was taken care of. He was an avid problem-solver and always helped whoever, whenever he could—even if that meant consulting Google. He enjoyed playing cornhole in local tournaments and spending time with his family and friends. Charlie—or CW to his Shipyard and cornhole family—will be missed dearly by his friends and family. Charlie graduated from the NNS Apprentice School in 1975 as a Shipfitter, where he rendered meritorious service in wrestling during the year of 1972. He was in the United States Air Force from 1975–1979 and was appointed a Non-Commissioned Officer in the grade of Sergeant before being honorably discharged and returning to NNS to continue his career as a Shipbuilder. He was a Master Shipbuilder with over 50 years of service, many of which he spent as an Engineering Technician. Charlie is survived by his wife of 40 years Deborah White; children Christopher White (Candis), Crystal White, Shawn White, Sarah White (Krista), Scott White, and Caitlyn White; grandchildren Christina, Christiana, Madisyn, Koen, Mason, and Karson; father Robert S. White; siblings Robert White, Al White, and Connie Glazer. Charlie was proceeded in death by his mother Marie White; his brother Brian Travis White; brother-in-law Chip Glazer; sister-in-law Betty White. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service for Charlie “CW/C-Dub” White, which will be held at Riverside Baptist Church – 7409 River Road, Newport News, Virginia, beginning at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 25, 2022. In remembrance of Charlie’s life, the family requests that anyone who is able to please donate blood and help save lives, as this was something Charlie often did to help his community.
