Robert Allen Day, 84, of Plainfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
The only child of Mary (Thibo) and Jack Day born on June 21, 1939 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Cathedral High School, was on all Cities’ Football team, and received a full scholarship to Butler University for football. He was captain of the football team his senior year and won the Hilton U. Brown Award in 1960.
After obtaining his Business Degree he worked for a Bank, AFNB. Later Robert was a manager at Hubler Chevrolet and then moved to Hanna Chevrolet in Plainfield. He enjoyed golfing for several years.
He taught adult Sunday school classes for 40 years at Hazelwood Christian Church and later moved his membership to the Plainfield Christian Church. His favorite Bible verses were: “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or hear from me or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9
Robert had three children, Michael Day, Patty Whisnant, and Robert Day that live in North Carolina, and he also raised Pam Shaner and Holly Chasteen when he married Shirley Shaner Day in 1982. He has six grandchildren, Sara Regino, Matt Whisnant, Maicy Shaner, Riley Shaner, Alexis Perry, Caleb Chasteen and four great-grandchildren Branden Whisnant, Rose Whisnant, Violette Regino, Juliette Regino and Jaxon Regino.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
