Sue Elaine (Baker) Maxson, 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Born on April 29, 1935, in Hamilton (Steuben County), Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Artie (Beard) Baker.
Sue was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, and retired from Navistar (International Harvester) in 1985, after more than 32 years of service.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Smith, Rolla (Wanda) Roe, and Melodi Parrish; step-children, SuEllen McQuad, James (Janet) Maxson, John (Krista) Maxson; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Dean Baker, and Larry Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Maxson; sisters, Betty Akers, June Robinette, Ruth Sutton, and Mary Ellen Bradtmiller; brothers, Keith, Jerald, and Max Baker; and great-granddaughter, K'Liegh Robinson.
A funeral service to honor Sue's life and legacy will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. A calling will also take place on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
