Sophie Kathleen Wormcastle

Sophie Kathleen Wormcastle, 84, of Fort Wayne, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Sophie was born on September 12, 1938, in Coupon, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Joseph and Venna (McChessney) Yonkoski. Early in her life, she worked in a number of factories. Mostly though, she could be found working at home, caring for and raising her family. She was a member at St. Patrick's Catholic Church - Arcola for more than 50 years. Surviving family include her children, Donna (Jim) Ternet, Betsy (Shawn) Collier, James "Jim" (Sabrina) Wormcastle, Jr., and Melody (Tim) Lehman; grandchildren, Shantel (J) Booth, Colt (Michelle) Ternet, Sr., Nichole Wormcastle, Brandon (Chayenne) Wormcastle, Heather (Austin) Furnas, Kaitlyn Meinzen, Morgan (Elaine) Wormcastle, Blake Wormcastle, and Nick Lehman; great grandchildren, Anya and Ryken Booth, Colt Ternet, Jr., Emilee, Skylynn, Bentlee, Maycee, Dominic, and Avery Wormcastle, and Finley Furnas. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, James Wormcastle, Sr.; her infant daughter, Roxanna; sisters, Nancy Whitmore, Ruth Helland, Rose Houser, and Jeannie Majka; and her brother, Joseph Yonkoski, Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on Friday, September 1, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 12305 Arcola Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior and Father John Eke officiating. Visitation will also be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne with a rosary service beginning 6:30 pm. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Contributions in Sophie's memory may be made to Masses at St. Patrick's Catholic Church - Arcola.
