Sandra S. Ruse

Sandra S. Ruse, age 78, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023. Sandie was born in Fort Wayne, IN on October 10, 1945 to James and Isabelle Brooke. After Sandie graduated from high-school, she worked for a short time at International Harvester, where she met her spouse Gene L Ruse. Gene and Sandie were married on November 15, 1969. They went on to have one son, Scott L Ruse. Her life continued as a mother and homemaker while also enjoying her hobbies, including nature photography. Her primary interests in nature were bird watching, butterfly garden caretaking, rock collecting, and hiking. She also had the ability to identify many local species of birds by their sounds alone! Later in life, Sandie's son, Scott, married and had one son, Scott N. Ruse (Scotty). Sandie was a wonderful grandmother and took every opportunity to spoil Scotty and his cousin (Herman Rost), who was like another grandson. She regularly took them to nature parks, Science Central to work on rock collecting, putt putt, and arcades. She never missed a sporting event or school function either! Sandie was predeceased by her husband Gene. She is survived by Scott L Ruse (son), Kelley Ruse (daughter-in-law), Scott N Ruse (grandson), Herman Rost, Kathleen Kurtz (sister), Kristine Kurtz (niece), Kandace Kelly (niece), Taeler Kelly (grand-niece), Don Ruse (brother-in-law) and his spouse Janie Ruse, Joel Ruse (nephew), Janeen McKnight (niece), as well as more grand-nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls located 8325 Covington Rd. Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Visitation will start at 1:00pm then a moment of sharing at 3:00pm. In remembrance of Sandie's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to ACRES Land Trust charity to protect natural lands.
