Robert Urquhart Petts, 94, passed away July 25, 2024, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born January 6, 1930, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of George and Agnes Petts. Robert was a Korean War Veteran with the U.S. Army. He was a Printing Pressman and worked at Our Sunday Visitor in Huntington, IN for 30 years and retired in 1992. Robert was a Charter Member of the Aboite Township Fire Department and work as an EMT.
Robert was a skill artist and enjoyed painting, leather work. He was also an accomplished pianist and could play by ear, without ever having a lesson. In his younger days he enjoyed playing golf and square dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Connie” Petts of Roanoke, IN; children, Sharon (John) Riddle of Albion, IN; Linda James of Auburn, IN; Helen (Joe) Eichman of Albion, IN; Robert John (Patsy) Petts of Columbia SC; Mark (Christina) Petts of Pittsburgh, PA; 15 grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George "Stanley" Petts Jr.
Funeral Service will be 3pm Tuesday, August 30. 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN with visitation 2 hours prior. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Roanoke, IN. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight or Stillwater Hospice.
