Richard E Schantz, age 91, of Leo, Indiana passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Richard was born on June 4, 1931 in Archbold, Ohio, to the late Milton and Alta (Rupp) Schantz. After high school he attended International Business College in Fort Wayne and graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He then began employment at Brotherhood Mutual Life Insurance Company (later called Mutual Security Life Insurance Company). He was soon drafted into the Army where he served two years during the Korean War. After discharge he returned to Mutual Security where he was employed for 31 years as Vice President of Claims. During his employment there he met his future wife, Beverly Klopfenstein. They were married May 21, 1955. After retiring- from Mutual Security he worked and additional seven years in the office of Diester Machine. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and solving Sudoku puzzles. Richard was an active member of Brookside Church since 1967. Surviving in addition to his wife is son, Dr Bradley (Jean) Schantz of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Renee (David) Shirley of Carmel, IN.; grandsons Dr Oliver (Caitlin) Schantz; Vincent (Emily) Schantz, and Nathan Shirley; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Theodore, and Eleanor Schantz. Also surviving are sisters Janeth Segel and Sharon Rex of Ohio and Glen Schantz of colorado. He was preceded in death by brother Roger Schantz. Private family service were held.
