Nécrologie de Larry Eugene Miller
Larry Eugene Miller, 79, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully surrounded by family on March 24, 2018 at Parkview Hospital Hospice. Larry was born on October 15, 1938 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Paul and Mary (Galloway) Miller. He graduated from Northside High School in 1957. He was the proud father of three sons from his first marriage: Bradley, Brian, and Brendan. In later years, he rekindled his friendship and love with his childhood companion, Beverly Dunfee; they were married in 2009 and Beverly brightened Larry’s days with joy. Larry led a robust and full life, and treasured his family and friends. He was a devout Christian, and lifelong active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Township. Among his many accomplishments and life pursuits, he worked for more than 30 years in the warehouse management industry, primarily in the heating and cooling field. Larry was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1958 to 1963, including a tour of duty in and around the Mediterranean Sea on the USS Lowry. He was a proud Cub Scout leader with Pack 3046, serving in this role for all three of his sons, and a Pinewood Derby aficionado. He was also known for his love of all things John Deere, collecting models and pictures of John Deere tractors and equipment, including a vintage tractor that he first began restoring with his father, and continued to be a pet hobby of his over the years. Larry was a decades-long member of St. John’s softball and dartball teams, and enjoyed sharing these activities with his sons, friends and family. He was also an avid Purdue University Boilermakers fan who enjoyed tailgating for Purdue home football games and regularly followed Purdue basketball and other sports. Larry is survived by his wife, Beverly; his three sons and their wives: Brad and Pamela, Brian and Vicki, and Brendan and Michele; seven grandchildren; his younger siblings, Ruth and Dennis; nephews and nieces; and countless beloved friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary, and his younger brother, Roger. A funeral is scheduled for 11am Thursday, March 29, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Lake Township, 7914 West Cook Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46818, with calling one hour prior. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry’s life. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, March 28, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. John’s Lutheran Church of Lake Township. Condolences can be sent to, c/o: Brian Miller, 903 SR 8, Garrett, IN 46738. The family would like to thank the Parkview Hospital Randallia Hospice staff for the comfort and care provided to Larry in his final days
